OUR HISTORY

The Presentation Sisters, officially known as the ‘Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary’, is an International Religious Congregation of Roman Catholic Women founded in Cork, Ireland by Venerable Nano Nagle in 1775. The members of the Congregation use the post nominal initials PBVM. We are a vowed faith community as well as an apostolic Congregation who share in the mission of Jesus. We follow in the footsteps of Nano Nagle our Foundress by going out and serving the poor and the needy across the globe.

As per the survey of 2020, about 2000 sisters, located in 24 countries, are engaged in proclaiming the Good News with the missionary zeal.

Our vision is to work for justice and to promote human dignity, especially among the disadvantaged and the marginalized. The first Presentation Sisters came to India in 1842, to Chennai (the then Madras), Tamil Nadu. The mission gradually spread across the Indian sub-continent, the last establishment being our presence here in Pachama, Sehore District.
